Approximate Square Footage:
4,300 Square Feet (conditioned space).

Status:
Project completed.

Description:
Located on one of Florida’s many sabines, this Dutch-Caribbean home is within one half a mile of the Gulf of Mexico.  As with most property located in such close proximity of the Gulf, this structure was required to be raised off grade to meet the established flood zone requirements.

The “break-away” brick veneer at the base of the house conceals the true piling structure.  Although the brick veneer is not structural, it does provide a sense of strength by anchoring the structure to the surrounding landscape.  Along with heavy timber beams, exposed rafters, and beaded plywood soffits, brick veneer columns establish a sense of entry at the front porch.  Above the brick base, the structure is encased by a true stucco finish.  The harsh ultra-violet sunrays will have little effect on the off-white color of the stucco, which results in lower maintenance requirements.  The metal roof provides superior protection, as well as adding additional character to the structure.  The exterior also features custom aluminum handrails and divided window lites.  Custom glass tile inlay is located under several windows to create an illusion of verticality.

The interior of this magnificent home features six difference levels.  The ground floor consists of a two and a half car garage, as well as a Family Room that has direct access to the pool and surrounding plaza.  Also on the ground floor, is the Game Room which has a direct water view to the sabine.

The first floor is sub divided into a sleeping quarters and a living quarters.  The living quarters consists of a Formal Dining Room, Kitchen with a walk-in Pantry, Living Room, and a Viewing Platform.  The raised (approximately eighteen inches) Viewing Platform not only provides superior sight lines to the sabine, but also provides a framing structure that creates a built-in seating bench for the Living Room.  The Kitchen, Living Room, and Viewing Platform are enriched with custom made columns, wainscot, and soaring fourteen foot high ceilings with a bead board finish.  Accessed by three sets of French doors, the Main Deck overlooks the pool and plaza below.

The first floor sleeping quarters consists of a Parlor located adjacent to the Foyer, a Walk-Thru office for the Master Suite, and a Guest Bedroom Suite.  The second floor is totally dedicated to an additional two bedrooms with a shared Sitting Room.  All bedrooms on the first and second floor have balconies that not only overlook the pool and plaza below, but also have a direct view to the sabine beyond.
